English is an easy language. But, all our schools made it like a ghost, for decades.
Venky, Lavanya, Saranya and myself are discussing about spoken English session planning, but it is only half the way.

Any language should be learned - first to listen/speak, then to read/write, then the grammar.
Since that speaking is not at all happening/taught in schools, English remains a nightmare.

So, we should take Spoken English session in our workshops.
Along with spoken English, grammar will be planned in parallel. (Venky/Lavanya has already started this in last workshop).

This spoken English might require 2 or 3 hours per workshop, and will go for 4 or 5 workshops.

When we talk about Spoken English, we can think about using HangMan game as one of ways of execution.

Hi Saravanamuthu,
I looked at the hangman game. (wikipedia)
For me, it looks like a game for vocabulary, than speaking skill.
Sami.

There were good spoken english sessions designed by Little marry for us. I am not sure whether anybody has the documents now. From what I remember
- Say out loud: Keep list of things on table. Each has to come and say like 'This is stone', 'This is pen', etc.,
- Describe your action: They should do this by doing simple action and tell out loud what they do. I walk straight, i turn left, i sit down, i stand, i jump, etc.,
- Enact the picture: Keep list of pictures like (parrot, rose, honeybee, etc.,) and list down for each picture important things that they do. Student has to pick a picture and enact the listed things. Like below for parrot:
I am a parrot. I am green in color. I have a red nose. I am very beautiful. My voice is very sweet.

Hi Anbu, Thanks for the good ideas. We will see how to incorporate them, either in this WS, or further WS.
