Draw the Description
Do activities that require wards to listen to specific instructions and act on them. For example, you can explain an object in detail to the wards, who then draw the item you describe. After you have finished the description, allow the wards to hold up their pictures and show what they have drawn.

Pass the Message.
This is a simple listening game that requires at least three or four people to play, but the more wards involved, the better the game is. The game starts when the students get in a straight line. The person at the beginning of the line will whisper a sentence into the ear of the student behind him. This student will subsequently whisper what he heard to the student behind him. This continues until the last student is reached. At this point, she will repeat what she believes the sentence to be. The first ward should then say what the sentence was when it was started. There will almost always be a difference.

Listening Game: Describing the most influential event.
  • Divide the group of people in two by counting twos. The group should have even-numbered people. If the group is odd-numbered, then ask the last person whose number is 'one' to be the observer.
One facilitator should take all the 'ones' outside the room. The ones should be instructed to think for a minute and describe a very important/life changing incident in their life. It should go atleast for 5 minutes whatever happens. After he/she completes the description, the partner will summarize the description.
One facilitator should retain in the room with all the twos. The twos should be instructed tosit with the ones when they describe the incident but should not listen to them, ignore them, not meeting their eyes, sitting back, fiddling with something, etc..
This attitude of twos should change after a whistle from the facilitator. After the whistle, the twos should listen carefully what the ones say.
Later both the ones and twos should be asked to share their learning, experience in this activity.

Hi Priya,
Superb ! These kind of activities hopefully increase the ward's listening ability in the class room.
My vote for these to be included in this workshop, if possible.

(Is there any such activities to increase the ward's questioining ability? May be, for next workshop).
